FIRST PRIZE winner will receive a $250 cash award, a free copy of Cakewalk X1 Producer (or Mac software from Cakewalk), Garritan Personal Orchestra software, and a performance of their work at a public concert at Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

SECOND PRIZE winner will receive a $100 cash award, a free copy of Cakewalk X1 Producer (or Mac software from Cakewalk), Garritan Personal Orchestra software, and a performance of their work at a public concert at Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

The music departments of both winners’ high schools will also receive the software awards.

DEADLINE FOR ONLINE SUBMISSIONS
March 14, 2011

CONTEST RULES
1. Applicants must be full-time students in an accredited high school, grades 9 – 12.
2. Only one entry per composer is allowed.
3. Works must be at least 3 minutes in length but no more than 10 minutes in length.
4. All compositions must be submitted as MP3 audio files and should be named as follows: YourLastName_YourFirstName.mp3 (ie. stravinsky_igor.mp3)
WAV, AIFF, OGG or other formats will not be accepted.
5. Applicants must be the sole creators of the work.
6. Works must use either computer-generated or computer-processed sound as a major component or consist of sound created on an electronic musical instrument such as a synthesizer or sampler. Works that combine acoustic instruments and electronic or computer sound are acceptable.
7. Works performed entirely by acoustic instruments that are mixed on a computer are not allowed.
8. Loop-based works are not encouraged, but will be considered.

Any application that does not meet these guidelines will not be considered.
