The works featured here were created in response to assignments I gave in the Music and Technology 2 class (Fall '02) at Northeastern University. The class focused especially on synthesis methods, as well as on DSP, sequencing, MIDI, and composition. Most the students were sophomores and included both Music Technology and Multimedia majors. Some had no experience whatsoever with musical composition or electronic sound design, while a few had fairly extensive experience. Synthesis was new for most. (Synthesis software included Virtual Waves, the Electroacoustic Music Primer, Coagula, and Reaktor.)

At the same time I was being impressed by the creative efforts of my students, I was noticing that students in the visual arts - photography, art, architecture - have public spaces on campus to display their works. Student composers do have their concerts, of course, but I decided to create this web page in order to further and foster a wider, more constant dissemination, as well as to present the works within the context of the class, which makes it possible to appreciate the diversity of responses to common creative challenges.
